It’s been an amazing few years here at Claritas Studios (previously Catholic Stories for Children). Our team has created a range of animated shorts to help children — young and young at heart — to grow in their faith. We’ve created merch. We’ve met many wonderful people through our in-person and online networking.

One of our very talented illustrators has created a beautiful new piece of artwork featuring Francis of Assisi, and we’re excited to begin sharing it with you.
Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, or as we call him today Francis of Assisi, is a beloved saint around the world. Born in the town of Assisi in Italy, Francis lived a comfortable life as a young man. But after encountering Christ in a powerful way, he chose a very different path.
Francis gave up his wealth and possessions in order to serve the poor and follow Jesus with radical simplicity. His joyful love for God and deep care for others inspired many people, and his life continues to inspire millions today.
Saint Francis is known for many remarkable things. He wrote beautiful prayers praising God, cared deeply for animals and all of creation, and became the first saint known to receive the stigmata, the wounds of Christ’s Passion imprinted in his hands, feet, and side.
Because of his deep love for creation and service to others, Saint Francis has become the patron saint of many causes, including animals, archaeologists, ecology, Italy, merchants, messengers, and metal workers.
We hope this new artwork helps remind you that holiness isn’t just for a few extraordinary people in the past. It’s something every one of us is called to!
